How I tried to decode the Tantrum Challenge?

How I tried to decode the Tantrum Challenge? A shout here, a scream and the next thing I see are a string of soft toys being hurled at me. I escape a few and then the last one hits right on my back! Whoa, that did hurt my neck a bit! Wondering what this is all about? An old experience I would like to relate to. Before that, I would like to give you a picture of my family. We have a huge family. I mean my dad had 7 brothers. These uncles got married and each one has their own sweet family. My dad was the eldest and I also happened among the eldest of the cousins. I have one elder brother and one elder sister and by the time I was 12 years old, they went off to study in graduation college. At that time, I guess it was the baby season and I had a lot of cousins aged between 2-5 years old. All our moms had a tradition- to relax once in a month. Freak out, Moms! Once in a month, the wives of all the 8 men planned an outing. It could be to the park or a cl

Can someone suggest how to calm down a child with tantrums?

Can someone suggest how to calm down a child with tantrums? Tantrums, is a phase of toddler life that we all have to confront, face and cope up with. So, do you have a solution for this? I NEED THAT!!!! (this is tantrum zone, and this is all he says when he gets fussy) The time when you little baby is born is one of the most exciting moment of your life. Especially when you are a first time mom, the moment of realization that you actually carried a baby in your womb for nine months. I really don’t know- it is beyond words. The baby is so fragile, so dainty, so delicate and to top it all- so lovably adorable. I am not saying this because it happened to be my lil bundle of joy, but any new born is just too adorable. I mean you could stand and admire their toes, finger nails, their facial expressions, the way they go to sleep, smile and my list could go on. My confession: Till the baby is a bout 6- 9 months old, that cutie pie is surely a bundle of joy. Now

Love can soothe anyone..So give a little love and it will back in double to you!

Love can soothe anyone..So give a little love and it will back in double to you! Hey, it’s ok, I am there for you... Remember anyone telling you this? Take you time and think . Over the years, there may have many people, but then if you think a bit more- these sweet words were probably uttered  by your mother or grandmother or maybe the lady who took care of you- in your early stages of life. Ah, yes, now you may have recollected. From anywhere, and everywhere children comes up with some mess or the other and all these mommies hear are, “Mommmaaa!!” As I had mentioned earlier, I lived in a large family, wherein more than 15 youngsters lived under one roof. Of course, we did not belong to one mother, but this was a joint family family system where the children of all the uncles and aunts- we, the cousins lives together. Now, what I would bring up here is that- whatever be the day or the occasion, our mothers were always busy. I never realized this when I was

Family... Is there anything more comforting that this little word?

Family... Is there anything more comforting that this little word? Do think about that word: family? It may be just a word for many of us, but coming to this further- it means a lot for all of us. Basically, thinking of it- it is family that molds the world we live in today. I lived in a large family- where cousins, uncles and aunts all lived under one roof.  True, there was utter confusion, no chaos, and you can be sure to have a day full of noises, fights and yells! Literally, I have never witnessed a day of silence; but when I now sit and think about it- there was so much fun, love and happiness in it. We were never: - Fully fed with food that we craved for - Toys seemed to be in the hands of the mighty and the bold ones - Clothes were never abundant like these days as money was scarce. So, all that we were entitled to a once a year shopping spree and that was definitely for Christmas. Oh man, I could tell you – whether old or young- we all longe
